Unfortunately for Roosevelt, the Saturday morning news story about the Special Ed Preschool teacher’s arrest was picked up by every news outlet in the Bay Area. All of the papers and TV news stations incorrectly list this teacher as a Roosevelt teacher and used footage of our school in their news reports.
The Special Ed Preschool is NOT a part of Roosevelt School and Principal Girardi, the Roosevelt staff and teachers have no involvement with their program or employees. The special ed preschool merely uses classroom space on our campus just as the Rainbow preschool and CDC preschools do. The Special Ed Preschool is an entity of the Redwood City School District, but again, not Roosevelt School.
Apparently the Police Department and media outlets didn’t verify their facts before publishing this report and now the misinformation is circulating in our community.
This is such a disappointing blow for our staff, teachers and parents since everyone has been working so hard to show other families in the district what a great school Roosevelt is. More than half of the 300+ purple sheets that were turned in by our parents listed their child’s safety as one of the reasons they love Roosevelt, and that is still true.
